TO CONGRATULATE AMANDA REEVES AND BECKY SMYTH OF CHARLESTON COUNTY EMS UPON BECOMING THE 2001 EMS STATE CHAMPION PARAMEDIC TEAM AND TO COMMEND THESE INDIVIDUALS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO THEIR COMMUNITY AND STATE AS EMS WORKERS.
Whereas, Amanda Reeves and Becky Smyth are dedicated Charleston County EMS workers who contribute daily to the health and safety of their community; and
Whereas, Amanda Reeves and Becky Smyth, as paramedics, represented the Low Country Region and Charleston County in the Annual EMS Symposia in Myrtle Beach on Friday, March 1, 2002; and
Whereas, this Department of Health and Environmental Control competition requires teams of paramedics to treat fictional patients and solve problems that test their knowledge and abilities and includes having to triage and treat four patients in front of a panel of judges and hundreds of colleagues; and
Whereas, Amanda Reeves and Becky Smyth not only earned the honor of participating in the competition but also won the event, becoming the 2001 EMS State Champion paramedic team for South Carolina; and
Whereas, Amanda Reeves and Becky Smyth are the first all-female team and first team from Charleston County to win the competition since it began in 1985; and
Whereas, those who know these incredible public servants agree that they are wonderful employees and human beings; and
Whereas, South Carolina can be proud to have this team working as paramedics caring for those in emergencies and proud to have them as citizens and residents of our State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Amanda Reeves and Becky Smyth of Charleston County EMS upon becoming the 2001 EMS State Champion paramedic team and to commend these individuals for their outstanding commitment to their community and State as EMS workers.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Amanda Reeves and Becky Smyth.
