CONGRATULATING DUTCH FORK HIGH SCHOOL FOR EARNING THE COVETED "PALMETTO'S FINEST" AWARD AND FOR EARNING THE SCHOOL GRADE OF "EXCELLENT" ON ITS ANNUAL SCHOOL REPORT CARD ISSUED BY THE STATE UNDER THE EDUCATION ACCOUNTABILITY ACT.

Whereas, Dutch Fork High School has appropriately marked its 10th anniversary by earning the "Palmetto's Finest" award for excellence sponsored by Carolina First and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and

Whereas, the award is given after an evaluation by colleagues and fellow educators and is one of the most coveted awards among educators, schools, and communities; and

Whereas, the award is granted from an analysis of a school's student achievement, faculty training, program goals, delivery systems, office practices, and community involvement; and

Whereas, Dutch Fork High School's receipt of the "Palmetto's Finest" award and the "Excellent" school grade is a result of hard work and dedication by its students, teachers, parents, support staff, administration, and community; and

Whereas, in addition to the "Palmetto's Finest" award and the "Excellent" school grade, Dutch Fork High School has many individual and group accomplishments that provide specific validation to the general recognition the school, as a whole, has received; and

Whereas, these individual and group accomplishments are broad in range and include being top in the State for Exit Exam and AP scores, National Merit recognition, being one of the top schools in overall SAT scores, National Achievement Scholarship recognition, numerous academic and athletic championships, success in school-related competitions and activities, and teacher recognition and certifications; and

Whereas, Dutch Fork High School is a school that South Carolina should be proud of because of its many scholastic and athletic achievements. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina express their congratulations to Dutch Fork High School for earning the coveted "Palmetto's Finest" award and for earning the school grade of "Excellent" on its annual school report card issued by the State under the Education Accountability Act.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be presented to Dr. Ronald K. Cowden, Dutch Fork High School Principal and to the school trustees, District 5 of Lexington and Richland Counties.
