TO COMMEND THE MEMBERS AND MANAGERS OF THE DORMAN HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND COACH PAULA KIRKLAND ON THEIR OUTSTANDING CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON AND CONGRATULATE THEM ON THEIR TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS.
Whereas, Dorman High School's 2000 volleyball team won the year 2000 State Championship making that championship the seventh one in eleven years beginning with the year 1990; and
Whereas, the 2000 volleyball team finished its year with a solid record of twenty-four wins, zero losses and its seventh State Championship. This fine season ran its record to two hundred fifty-one wins and only sixteen losses since the year 1990. Additionally, the Dorman Volleyball Team has been a Region II AAAA champion every year since 1988; and
Whereas, consistency is the basis for strong teams, this year's members, including Christie Bishop, Laura Cline, Allie Cyrill, Amy Fierova, Shana Glenn, Melissa Hennessy, Christie Huskey, Maggie Irvin, Jessica Jank, Carrie Jarrard, Beth Key, Erin Knipfer, Heather Peden, Kasey Smith, Rachel VanMeter, Suzanne Webb, and Catherine Woodrum, as well the team managers comprised of LeeLee Wofford, Amie Smith, and Ashley Chism have shown the consistency and strength to live up to the high reputation of Dorman volleyball that has been established by teams and team members that have come before them; and
Whereas, Heather Peden and Catherine Woodrum, for their outstanding accomplishments this past year have been honored by being name to the All-State Volleyball Team; and
Whereas, Coach Paula Kirkland has won her four hundredth volleyball game this past season and was also honored as Region 2 AAAA Coach of the Year. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, commend the members and managers of the Dorman High School Volleyball Team and Coach Paula Kirkland on their outstanding championship season and congratulate them on their team and individual achievements.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Dorman High School Volleyball Team.
