Whereas, the cheerleaders were already down because of the illness of their coach, Debbie Rogers, who was battling cancer and was unable to attend many of the practices. Debbie Rogers was an integral part of the team, and the team was moved by Debbie's courage in the face of suffering; and
Whereas, because of these circumstances, the Lewisville High School cheerleaders were apprehensive about competing in the state championship; and
Whereas, just before they were about to compete, Debbie Rogers came to the coliseum and took her place where the cheerleaders could see her mouth the calls.
