TO CONGRATULATE MISS KATHRYN WILLOUGHBY OF COLUMBIA ON BEING NAMED THE 2001 SOUTH CAROLINA JUNIOR MISS AT ANDERSON COLLEGE ON SATURDAY, JULY 22, 2000, AND TO EXTEND TO HER BEST WISHES FOR SUCCESS IN ALL OF HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Miss Kathryn Willoughby of Columbia at seventeen years of age was named the 2001 South Carolina Junior Miss in a ceremony at the Rainey Fine Arts Center at Anderson College on Saturday, July 22, 2000; and
Whereas, Miss Kathryn Willoughby has proved herself worthy of this honor, not only by her beauty and talent, but also by her excellence in the classroom and her commitment to her community; and
Whereas, Miss Willoughby's selection came at the end of the three day Junior Miss competition in which twenty-five rising high school seniors came from all over the State to look and perform their best in hopes of winning the honor and scholarships that come with the title of South Carolina Junior Miss; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Junior Miss contest consists of five categories including talent, a judge's interview, scholastic achievement, fitness, and presence and after the field is narrowed, eight finalist move on to the second day's ceremony in which they compete again in talent, fitness, and presence with Miss Willoughby exhibiting her skill as a dancer for the talent portion of the contest; and
Whereas, Miss Kathryn Willoughby, along with the title of 2001 South Carolina Junior Miss, will receive a three thousand dollar scholarship and will travel to Mobile, Alabama, next June to compete in the America's Junior Miss pageant; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have Miss Kathryn Willoughby represent the Palmetto State in the America's Junior Miss competition and are thrilled to have her serve as an ambassador and role model for our State during her reign as South Carolina Junior Miss. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly wish to congratulate Miss Kathryn Willoughby of Columbia on being named the 2001 South Carolina Junior Miss at Anderson College on Saturday, July 22, 2000, and to extend to her best wishes for success in all of her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Miss Kathryn Willoughby of Columbia.
