TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE REVEREND RONALD D. BARTON, PASTOR OF SHADY OAK BAPTIST CHURCH IN GREENVILLE, FOR ELEVEN YEARS OF FAITHFUL AND DEVOTED SERVICE TO THE CHURCH AND ITS MEMBERS.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take pride in noting that the Reverend Ronald D. Barton has served Shady Oak Baptist Church in Greenville as its pastor for eleven years and that the members of Shady Oak Baptist Church will honor Reverend Barton with an anniversary banquet commemorating his service as pastor on March 18, 2001; and
Whereas, Reverend Barton has been used by God as a preacher, teacher, musician, and leader at Shady Oak. During his eleven years with Shady Oak, he has introduced many mission and outreach programs through ministries such as feeding the hungry, tutorial classes, community outreach, social needs, evangelism, partnership in healing, food and clothing, and youth outreach; and
Whereas, Shady Oak Baptist Church has grown by over eight hundred members during his eleven years of service and leadership. Pastor Barton and the Shady Oak family are in the process of undergoing the first phase of a multi-million dollar building project, the Shady Oak Baptist Church Faith Dome and Campus. This is but one example of the many accomplishments of this amazing man; and
Whereas, Reverend Barton in addition to his duties at Shady Oak is an active civic and community leader in Greenville. He serves on the board of directors for the Family Self-Sufficiency Task Force of the Greenville Housing Authority; the board of directors for Senior Action; and the Citizens Advisory Council for the Greenville County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. He is a member of the NAACP, the Morris College National Alumni Association, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and is listed in Outstanding Young Men of America; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this outstanding man of God as he marks his eleventh anniversary with this wonderful church and extend to him and his parishioners best wishes for a long and continued pastoral relationship which will stay focused on God and His mission in the world. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and commend the Reverend Ronald D. Barton, Pastor of Shady Oak Baptist Church in Greenville, for eleven years of faithful and devoted service to the church and its members.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Reverend Ronald D. Barton and to Shady Oak Baptist Church in Greenville.
