TO EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO EDDIE FRANKLIN PAULEY OF LAMAR FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELD OF EDUCATION IN DARLINGTON COUNTY AND TO HONOR HIM UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM HIS TENURE AS PRINCIPAL OF SPAULDING JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN LAMAR, SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina commend Eddie Franklin Pauley upon his retirement from Spaulding Junior High School, where he has been the Principal since 1988 and express their best wishes to him in all his future endeavors; and
Whereas, Eddie Pauley graduated from Spaulding High School in 1966 and went on to attend Benedict College in Columbia, where he received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics in 1970. He also attended South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, where he received his Masters degree in mathematics in 1978 and later obtained thirty hours above the Masters requirement from the University of South Carolina in 1984; and
Whereas, Mr. Pauley taught math at Spaulding and Lamar High Schools from 1970 to 1978, when he became the Title 1 Math Supervisor for Darlington County. In 1982, Mr. Pauley began his tenure at Lamar High School where he was the assistant principal for six years until he became Principal of Spaulding Junior High School in 1988, a position he has held until this year; and
Whereas, throughout his career in education, Eddie Pauley has been active in his community. He is a member of Myrtle Lodge # 64 of Hartsville and has held the positions of Secretary, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, and Senior Deacon. He is also a member of the Knight Templarism and is a Royal Arch Mason; and
Whereas, Eddie Pauley is a Sunday school teacher, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and Secretary of the Deacon Board at Lawson Grove Baptist Church, where he has been a deacon since 1982. He was a member of the Darlington County and Hartsville Council Disabilities and Special Needs Board for ten years. Mr. Pauley was honored when a house for men named "The Pauley House" was dedicated in his name on September 15, 1996; and
Whereas, Eddie Pauley's accomplishments would be incomplete without mention of his wife, the former Betty Williams; four children, Jesse, Jamie, Johann, and Janice; and three grandchildren, Amani, Porshe, and Deshawn; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives commends Mr. Eddie Franklin Pauley as he retires from his tenure as Principal of Spaulding Junior High School in Lamar, South Carolina and honors his dedication to the field of teaching. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their gratitude to Eddie Franklin Pauley of Lamar for his contributions to the field of education in Darlington County and honor him upon his retirement from his tenure as Principal of Spaulding Junior High School in Lamar, South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Eddie Franklin Pauley at 1324 Fisherman Road, Lamar, South Carolina 29069.
