TO CONGRATULATE THE KING ACADEMY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM, THEIR COACHES, STAFF, AND OTHER OFFICIALS FOR THEIR 57-46 WIN OVER CAROLINA ACADEMY FOR THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the King Academy Lady Knights showed determination and tenacity in their 57-46 championship win over Carolina Academy for the South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class AA State title; and
Whereas, the girls worked hard all season to attain this championship goal, which was the first for the Lady Knights in thirteen years; and
Whereas, the King Academy Girls Basketball Team finished the season with thirty wins and only one loss; and
Whereas, every member of this team deserves our accolades. They are Brittany Mappus, Maggie Leaphart, Amanda Berry, Lindsey Hollis, Kristi Holmes, Kari Croft, Kerianne Blease, Leanna Willis, Erin Brown, Brittany Matthews, and Candi Rodgers. Joey Long is the Lady Knights' head coach; and
Whereas, the Lady Knights have brought great pride to their families and the school; and
Whereas, Seniors Erin Brown and Kristi Holmes and Sophomore Leanna Willis were the Lady Knights players named to the All-Tournament Team; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take this opportunity to congratulate these young women athletes of King Academy for their hard work and perseverance in bringing home the AA State Championship Basketball Title for the year 2002. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the King Academy Girls Basketball Team, their coaches, staff, and other officials for their 57-46 win over Carolina Academy for the South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association AA State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the King Academy Lady Knights Basketball Team.
