TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL TO ESTABLISH A TASK FORCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONDUCTING AN EVALUATION OF ALL STATE LAWS AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE INCINERATION OF MEDICAL WASTE AND TO REPORT ITS FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 1, 2002.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The Department of Health and Environmental Control is directed to establish a task force to conduct a detailed evaluation of all current state laws and regulations pertaining to the incineration of medical waste. The task force shall make recommendations to the Board of the Department of Health and Environmental Control including, but not limited to, the appropriateness of amending or repealing current laws and regulations and the necessity of enacting new laws or regulations regarding the incineration of medical waste. The task force shall report its findings and recommendations to the board no later than December 1, 2002.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
