TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, RELATING TO GENERAL FAMILY INDEPENDENCE PROGRAM, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2687, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Department of Social Services, relating to General Family Independence Program, designated as Regulation Document Number 2687, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
The Department of Social Services proposes to amend current regulations in Article 11 of the Family Independence Program for the purpose of setting forth new budgeting procedures that will allow an applicant for the Family Independence Program to be given a deduction for monthly childcare expenses prior to the determination of eligibility for Family Independence. The areas in which new regulations will be amended include the following: (a) deduction of childcare expenses, not to exceed three consecutive months, prior to determination of gross income eligibility; and (b) use of a standardized childcare deduction.
