The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
Beloved, hear St. Paul's last words to the Philippians, Chapter 4 (4:8ff):
"And now, brothers (and sisters), as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing:
'Fix your thoughts on what is true, and good... and right'."
Let us pray.
Father, we come again!
We find ourselves in the shadows seeking LIGHT! We are in a sort of psychological wilderness, a bit of a swamp! We are bedeviled by the minutiae of how we shall govern ourselves in our common life.
Bring us together as we pray for one more thing above all else: help us to fix our thoughts on what is true... and good... and right!
Amen.
The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
