The Senate assembled at 11:45 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, the Psalmist sends across the years a message for today (Psalm 9:15-16):

"The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid has their own foot been caught...

The Lord has made Himself known, He has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands."
Let us pray.

God of our fathers, known of old, out of the past we read the plain words that evil rulers will eventually self-destruct.

Help us to understand, and learn from history, that You brought down Hitler and Stalin and that You punished Your own people of Israel when they left the path of justice and righteousness.

Toward achieving the dream, that all-consuming goal, of justice and truth for all our people, help us to make our personal down payment... today!
Amen.
