A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 30-4-40, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MATTERS EXEMPT FROM DISCLOSURE UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT LISTS OF PERSONS WHO HAVE APPLIED FOR OR WHO HAVE BEEN GRANTED CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMITS BY THE STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT DIVISION ARE EXEMPT FROM DISCLOSURE AND MAY NOT BE DISCLOSED UNDER THIS ACT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 30-4-40(a) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 86 of 2003, is further amended by adding a new item at the end to read:

"( )    lists of persons who have applied for or who have been granted concealed weapons permits by the State Law Enforcement Division are exempt from disclosure and may not be disclosed under this act;"

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
