A BILL

TO REQUIRE THE MCCORMICK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO ESTABLISH THE STARTING AND ENDING DATE OF THE SCHOOL TERM AND TO REQUIRE THAT THE LENGTH OF SCHOOL TERM COMPLY WITH SECTION 59-1-420.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 59-5-71 of the Code of Laws or any regulation or action of the State Board of Education, beginning school year 2003-2004, the Board of Trustees of the McCormick County School District shall establish the starting and ending date of the school term. The length of the school term must comply with all requirements of Section 59-1-420.

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
