A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE CONGREGATION OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MAULDIN FOR BEING THE BENCHMARK FOR CHRISTIAN SERVICE IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO DECLARE AUGUST 22, 2004, AS "FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MAULDIN DAY" IN RECOGNITION OF ITS ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY AND ITS WONDERFUL MINISTRY AND MISSION.

Whereas, August 22, 2004, marks the one hundredth anniversary of First Baptist Church of Mauldin (FBCM) in Mauldin, South Carolina; and

Whereas, FBCM has consistently lived up to its stated purpose, which is to develop "devoted followers of Jesus Christ, who know Him, grow in Him, and serve others in His name"; and

Whereas, touching the lives of thousands of South Carolinians through its mission and ministry, FBCM has offered practical teachings to people of all ages and from all backgrounds for one hundred years; and

Whereas, providing a place of sanctuary and worship for Christians from all walks of life, FBCM will continue to do God's work and communicate God's word as the church moves into its one hundred first year of service to South Carolina and the Mauldin community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend and acknowledge the congregation of First Baptist Church of Mauldin for being the benchmark for Christian service in South Carolina and declare August 22, 2004, as "First Baptist Church of Mauldin Day" in recognition of its one hundredth anniversary and its wonderful ministry and mission.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the First Baptist Church of Mauldin and Pastor Gary Strickland.
