A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-25-1330, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MOTOR RESTRICTIONS ON LAKE H. TAYLOR BLALOCK, SO AS TO INCREASE THE POWER OF AN ENGINE ON WATERCRAFT OPERATING ON LAKE H. TAYLOR BLALOCK FROM FIFTEEN HORSEPOWER TO THIRTY HORSEPOWER, AND TO PROVIDE THAT IT IS UNLAWFUL TO OPERATE CERTAIN WATERCRAFT ON LAKE BLALOCK.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1.    Section 50-25-1330 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 181 of 1993, is further amended to read:

"Section 50-25-1330.    (A)    On Lake H. Taylor Blalock, no watercraft with an engine greater than fifteen thirty horsepower may not operate unless both of the following apply:

(1)    the gas line has been disconnected and the engine or prop is trimmed out of water.; and

(2)    an electric trolling motor or engine of fifteen horsepower or less is mounted. However, pontoon boats with a length greater than sixteen feet may utilize motors not greater than forty horsepower.

(B)    It is unlawful to operate a watercraft on Lake H. Taylor Blalock with an outboard motor having horsepower in excess of the United States Coast Guard rating for the watercraft or with the Coast Guard rating plate missing or changed."

SECTION 2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
