VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-60 SO AS TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS RESIDING OUT OF THE STATE WHO ARE ENROLLED IN A PUBLIC INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING WITH AN ENROLLMENT OF TEN THOUSAND OR MORE FULL-TIME STUDENTS TO TWENTY PERCENT OF ITS TOTAL NUMBER OF ACCEPTED STUDENTS FOR EACH ENTERING FRESHMAN CLASS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 101, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-60. Beginning with the 2004-2005 academic year, a public institution of higher learning, as defined in Section 59-103-5, that has an enrollment of ten thousand or more full-time students shall limit the number of students residing out of the State to twenty percent of the total number of accepted students for each entering freshman class."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
