VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE JUSTIN ARTHUR OF COWPENS FOR WINNING THE FIRST INDIVIDUAL STATE TITLE IN WRESTLING FOR BROOME HIGH SCHOOL, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY OUTSTANDING ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS, AND TO WISH HIM EVERY SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Justin Arthur won the first individual wrestling State Title in the one hundred thirty pound weight class for Broome High School on March 1, 2003. This was his fourth trip to the State Championship meet and he defeated Brookland-Cayce's Trey Bray eight to one for the win; and
Whereas, during his wrestling career at Broome High School, Arthur was the team captain in 2002 and 2003, Region III AAA Wrestler of the Year for 2002 and 2003, Spartanburg County Champion in 2003, North/South All Star Selection, and All-State in 2002 and 2003. His record for the season was forty-four wins and one loss, and his lifetime record is one hundred twenty-three wins and twenty-one losses; and
Whereas, Justin is not only one of the best wrestlers in the State, he is also a member of the cross-country team, a two-year letterman in football, and is on the Spartanburg Herald Journal All Academic Team for soccer, cross-country, and wrestling. Arthur was also named the Spartanburg Herald Journal Scholar Athlete of the Week and a member of the Broome High School Hall of Fame; and
Whereas, in addition to his many athletic accomplishments, Justin also has many academic achievements as a Broome High School Junior Marshal, Wofford College Scholar, Presbyterian College Junior Fellow, and Lander University Junior Fellow, and he is on the principal's honor roll; and
Whereas, as an active member of Cowpens First Baptist Church, he is a member of the Youth Council, Youth Choir, and Youth on Mission. He is a dedicated volunteer as a Cowpens Elementary Mentor and Teacher Cadet, and he is associated with Service Learning and Junior Achievement; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to honor this outstanding athlete and exceptional young man for his service in the community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Justin Arthur of Cowpens for winning the first individual State Title in wrestling for Broome High School, commend him for his many outstanding athletic and academic achievements, and wish him every success in all of his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Justin Arthur of Cowpens.
