VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
CONGRATULATING SIR KNIGHT MICHAEL W. TELESCO FOR FIFTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND FOR HIS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Michael W. Telesco joined the Knights of Columbus in January 1953 and received the honors of the Fourth Degree on February 22, 1969; and
Whereas, he has always served with honor and distinction, exhibiting great leadership; his example is a trademark for other members to follow; and
Whereas, Mr. Telesco's skills and business expertise have made the Knights of Columbus Order in South Carolina a strong and vibrant organization; and
Whereas, he is a devoted family man and loving husband, married to the former Phyllis Polk of Charleston. They have two children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. They are members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; and
Whereas, Mr. Telesco retired from the United States Army with twenty-five years of service, participated in World War II and the Korean conflict, and holds over twenty-two decorations; and
Whereas, he is the Ceremonial Officer for the State Council and schedules and oversees eight or more Second and Third Degrees each year all over the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, under the direction of the Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, Mr. Telesco organizes and coordinates the masses and prayer services for the Knights when needed and he presides over and directs ceremonials, installations, and Degrees; and
Whereas, he helped establish the Columbus Hope Foundation Corporation, making this a big business operation, giving the Knights the ability to seek corporate funds; and
Whereas, Mr. Telesco for more than twenty-five years has chaired the Operation Hope Program, which has donated more than a million dollars to citizens with retardation throughout South Carolina, and which keeps all funds collected for Operation Hope in South Carolina; and
Whereas, Sir Knight Michael Telesco is beloved by his fellow Brother Knights and is affectionately called the "Godfather of the Knights of Columbus" in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a dedicated individual, one who for decades has given tirelessly of himself, his time, and his talents, contributing immeasurably to the lives of countless South Carolinians. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Sir Knight Michael W. Telesco for fifty years of outstanding service and for his many contributions to the Knights of Columbus and the State of South Carolina and to wish him well in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Sir Knight Michael W. Telesco.
