A HOUSE RESOLUTION

THANKING LACY DENNIS CHAPMAN OF SPARTANBURG FOR HER TWENTY-TWO YEARS OF LOVING SERVICE AS PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR OF THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN WEEKDAY SCHOOL ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AND HONORING HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS IN THAT UNDERTAKING.

Whereas, Lacy Dennis Chapman of Spartanburg County has devoted the past twenty-two years of her life to the welfare of the children of First Presbyterian Weekday School; and

Whereas, in that period of loving service, she has taken the lead in supporting this vital ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg; and

Whereas, Lacy Chapman initiated a foreign language program for preschoolers and implemented computers in the classroom; and

Whereas, the chapel program she began for the preschoolers encourages their spiritual, as well as educational growth; and

Whereas, the physical facility has grown and improved under her leadership, as she initiated the annual Fun Fair to raise funds for the Children's Library and undertook to see that a new playground was built for toddlers and the old one renovated; and

Whereas, her sensitivity to the needs of each child has motivated her dedication to supplying the educational, spiritual, physical, and social support the young ones of Weekday School require; and

Whereas, her leadership at the helm of the preschool program reflects her broad impact on and contributions to First Presbyterian Church and the City of Spartanburg; and

Whereas, it is the selfless devotion of such caring and energetic South Carolinians that prepares the generations of young citizens to take their productive places in this state's future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, thank Lucy Dennis Chapman of Spartanburg for her twenty-two years of loving service as Preschool Director of the First Presbyterian Weekday School on the occasion of her retirement and honor her accomplishments and contributions in that undertaking.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lucy Dennis Chapman.
