(Text matches printed bills. Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS OF THE 2003 DUTCH FORK HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY CHEERLEADING SQUAD AND HEAD COACH SHERRI KIRKLAND ON THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS OF EXCELLENCE IN CHEERLEADING AND ON BEING NAMED CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONS AND TO COMMEND THEM ON THEIR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD.

Whereas, being a member of a cheerleading squad allows young people to showcase their athletic abilities while giving them the opportunity to work together as a team to achieve a common goal; and

Whereas, to become a championship cheerleading squad, all members of the squad must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities as well as rhythmic talent and coordination; and

Whereas, with the guidance of Head Coach Sherri Kirkland, the Dutch Fork High School varsity cheerleading squad blew the competition away as it won the AAAA Championship at the University of South Carolina Coliseum on November 15, 2003; and

Whereas, the road to the championship title was not easy, as the Dutch Fork "Silver Foxes" competed against twelve other AAAA varsity cheerleading squads before finally capturing the championship trophy; and

Whereas, after facing defeat at the championship competition in 2002, the Dutch Fork High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad entered the 2003 competition with a renewed sense of determination and drive and their win at the 2003 competition gives the "Silver Foxes" their fourth championship title win since 1999; and

Whereas, the members of this championship varsity cheerleading squad include Stefann Bromwell, Mackenzie Mullenix, Christy Longman, Niki Zumbrunnen, Eryn Hutchison, Jenny Lee Loftis, Maggie Crosby, co-captain, Julie Brown, Jessica Heller, Ashley Teague, Jessica Corley, Melanie Williams, Ashley Ames, Jessica Evans, Whitney Jones, captain, Jennifer Hubbard, Shelby Owen, Bethany Smith, Pazley Davis, co-captain, Amber Lee, Lauren Carnprobst, Christine Allen, Lauren Burgess, co-captain, Lisa Cassese, and Erica Lunday; and

Whereas, with the support of their family, friends, and community, these young cheerleaders succeeded in bringing home the state championship title and have made not only their community, but also the faculty, administration, students, and alumni of Dutch Fork High School extremely proud. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the members of the 2003 Dutch Fork High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad and Head Coach Sherri Kirkland on their achievements of excellence in cheerleading and on being named Class AAAA State Champions and commend them on their hard work and dedication to become a championship squad.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the members of the 2003 Dutch Fork High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad and Head Coach Sherri Kirkland.
