A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE GLENFOREST SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM IN WEST COLUMBIA FOR WINNING THE SCISA CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON MARCH 6, 2004, AND TO WISH THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF MUCH SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the Boys Basketball Team of Glenforest School in West Columbia defeated Laurens Academy in a thrilling championship game on March 6, 2004, at the Sumter County Exhibition Center to win the SCISA Class A State Championship; and

Whereas, it was a game wrought with revenge as the Glenforest Bulldogs met the Laurens Crusaders for the second consecutive championship game. The game came down to the last seconds when the Bulldogs were able to pull ahead to end the game with a 69-67 victory; and

Whereas, Jarvis Jackson, who led the Bulldog victory scoring forty-one points; Ventrell Jenkins, who scored seventeen points; and Ryan Davis, who scored eight points, were named to the All-State Team; and

Whereas, other members of the championship team were: Penn Bloxsom, Charles Salley, Josh Evans, Jason Cureton, Zach Noe, Taylor Christiano, Don Looney, Mac Kelly, Jonathan Wooten, Jerrad Tidwell, Nelson Groome, Tim Schwab, Daniel Huggins, Chaz Washington, Haines West, Grayson Smith, Justin Whetstone, and Clarke Wilson. Head coach Tim Bookman led the team with the assistance of coaches John Pappas and Toyeka Campbell, and the team was supported by Katie Welch, Jacob Reeley, Mike Davis, and Tom Looney; and

Whereas, the Glenforest Bulldogs finished their spectacular season with twenty-three wins and only two losses; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to recognize such a talented group of young men as the Glenforest School Boys Basketball Team for their outstanding season and championship win. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the Glenforest School Boys Basketball Team in West Columbia for winning the SCISA Class A State Championship on March 6, 2004, and wish the players, coaches, and staff much success in their future endeavors.
