VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND STAFF WHO ARE SUPPORTING PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO DECLARE WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2004, AS PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL DAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, public charter schools are public schools that engage parents and local stakeholders fully to promote academic excellence; and
Whereas, the nineteen public charter schools in South Carolina are meeting the unique educational needs of more than three thousand eight hundred students; and
Whereas, diverse groups of parents and local stakeholders throughout this state are working to plan and implement innovative school choices for students throughout our State; and
Whereas, the week of May 13-17, 2004, has been proclaimed by Governor Mark Sanford to be Charter School Week in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the entire nation is celebrating the educational opportunities offered through charter schools. Now therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and honor the parents, teachers, and staff who are supporting public charter schools in South Carolina and declare Wednesday, May 5, 2004, as Public Charter School Day in South Carolina.
