A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND EXTOL MILES THOMPSON OF CHERAW FOR HIS BRILLIANT MIND AND FOR SCORING A PERFECT 1600 ON THE SAT ON OCTOBER 23, 2003, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, on October 23, 2003, Miles Thompson, son of Sarah Ann and Rock Thompson, achieved 1600 on the SAT, marking the first time in more than twenty-five years that a Cheraw High School Student has attained a perfect score; and

Whereas, Miles Thompson, a senior at Cheraw High School, answered all of the one hundred thirty-five questions on the five-part test and missed only three; and

Whereas, October was the third time Miles had taken the SAT. The first time was when he was in the seventh grade through the Duke University Young Scholars Program, and the second time was last year as a junior, when he scored 1470; and

Whereas, as Miles decides where to attend college next year, his advice for anyone who wants to do well on the SAT is to take the harder classes; and

Whereas, Miles Thompson competes on Cheraw High School's SAT Team, and was South Carolina's 2003 individual SAT champion; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the House of Representatives commend such a dedicated and diligent student as Miles Thompson as he graduates from Cheraw High School and embarks on what is sure to be a bright future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and extol Miles Thompson of Cheraw for his brilliant mind and for scoring a perfect 1600 on the SAT on October 23, 2003, and wish him much success in his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Miles Thompson of Cheraw.
