TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE RAYMOND L. AND ALICE S. BOOZER FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND INVOLVEMENT IN THE GILBERT COMMUNITY AND THE LEXINGTON COUNTY PEACH FESTIVAL AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THEM IN ALL OF THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, throughout a lifetime of service to others, Raymond and Alice Boozer were recently described as exemplifying what many in the community consider "The Spirit of Gilbert"; and

Whereas, through their countless hours of volunteerism, dedication, and leadership, Mr. and Mrs. Boozer have coordinated the collaborative efforts of hundreds of community volunteers who have worked together to promote the annual Lexington County Peach Festival and the development of the Gilbert Community Park; and

Whereas, a sense of pride and involvement in the Gilbert Community has developed through the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Boozer and is strengthened as community residents work together toward common goals under dedicated leadership; and

Whereas, with their unending devotion to the community and the festival, the Boozers have helped the Peach Festival, one of the first events in the Midlands of South Carolina that began as a small community festival, become one of the oldest and largest statewide events; and

Whereas, the 46th Annual Lexington County Peach Festival will be held on July 3, 2004, is sponsored by the Gilbert Community Club and held in the Gilbert Community Park and promotes the "Peach", the area peach industry, and promotes patriotism among all; and

Whereas, proceeds from the Lexington County Peach Festival are used to award student scholarships, over 165 to date, from a program that began in 1983, to promote the Gilbert community, the peach industry, and area school, civic, and community projects; and

Whereas, Raymond and Alice Boozer have made a dedicated commitment to the community of Gilbert as well as the Lexington County Peach Festival, and it has been through hard work and constant determination that the couple has helped make the festival one of the largest and most recognized in the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
