VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-3-60 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT NO STATE APPROPRIATED FUNDS MAY BE USED TO PAY THE OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION, AND TO PROVIDE THAT ALL FUNDS FOR THE OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE MANSION MUST COME FROM PUBLIC DONATIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 3, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 1-3-60. No state appropriated funds may be used to pay the operating expenses of the Governor's Mansion. Operating expenses of the mansion must be paid from funds donated for that purpose."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2003.
