VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 61-4-50, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE UNLAWFUL SALE OF BEER OR WINE TO A MINOR SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT, IN ADDITION TO EXISTING PENALTIES, A PERSON WHO IS CONVICTED OF VIOLATING THIS SECTION FOR A THIRD OR SUBSEQUENT OFFENSE SHALL HAVE HIS DRIVER'S LICENSE SUSPENDED FOR THIRTY DAYS, NO PART OF WHICH MAY BE SUSPENDED BY THE COURT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 61-4-50 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 415 of 1996, is amended by adding an appropriately lettered subsection at the end to read:
"( ) In addition to the penalties imposed in subsection (A), the Department of Public Safety shall suspend for thirty days the driver's license of a person who is convicted or who receives a sentence upon a plea of nolo contendere for a third or subsequent offense. No part of the mandatory driver's license suspension may be suspended by the court."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
