VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THE HONORABLE ELIZABETH S. HARPER OF MONCKS CORNER ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE OF BERKELEY COUNTY SUMMARY COURTS AND TO WISH FOR HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, in 1981, Elizabeth S. Harper began her career in the Berkeley County Magistrates Office assisting Judge Ira M. Grady, Jr.; and
Whereas, her tenure in Judge Grady's office continued until 1995, at which time she was appointed as a Magistrate for Berkeley County; and
Whereas, Judge Elizabeth S. Harper was appointed Chief Magistrate of Berkeley County in 1999. Over the past eight years, she has assisted in the implementation of the State Judicial Information Systems, worked closely with the State Attorney General's Office on its Domestic Violence Program, and implemented the Central Preliminary Hearing Court for Berkeley County; and
Whereas, Judge Harper also has served on numerous community advisory boards and committees including the Berkeley County Seniors, Inc., Local Law Enforcement Block Grants, Berkeley County Adult Protective Services, and on both the Berkeley County Magistrates Advisory Committees; and
Whereas, Judge Elizabeth Harper is a member of the National Judges Association, the South Carolina Summary Court Judges Association as a Judicial Representative for Berkeley and Charleston Counties, and the South Carolina Litter Control Association; and
Whereas, Judge Elizabeth S. Harper's departure from the Berkeley County Summary Courts does not herald her retirement from public service. This perpetual public servant will simply find another way to contribute to Berkeley County and the State she loves. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their congratulations to the Honorable Elizabeth S. Harper of Moncks Corner on the occasion of her retirement as Chief Administrative Judge of Berkeley County Summary Courts and wish for her continued success and happiness in all future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Elizabeth S. Harper.
