VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE ORANGEBURG PREPARATORY SCHOOL INDIANS BOYS TRACK TEAM AND THEIR COACH, DON SHELLEY, ON WINNING THE 2003 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA BOYS TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.
Whereas, track and field competitions individualize each team member's skills, but to become a championship team, all competitors must have outstanding physical abilities; and
Whereas, the Orangeburg Preparatory School Indians Boys Track and Field Team competed in their most important meet of the season and defeated teams from across the State; and
Whereas, Orangeburg Prep scored a total of one hundred twenty-eight points, with their closest competitor, Wilson Hall, scoring one hundred points, and the team captured the 2003 Class AAA Boys Track and Field State Championship title for the second year in a row; and
Whereas, under the great leadership of Head Coach Don Shelley each member of the boys track and field team was able to reach their full potential; and
Whereas, Will Whetstone led the Indians to victory with a first place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, a third place time in the 400 meter, a second place finish in the 40-meter hurdles, and another first place finish as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team with Tyler Gardner, Thomas Hawkins, and Bert Shuler; and
Whereas, seniors Dusty Dukes, Will Whetstone, Josh Fort, Bert Shuler, Chad Milhouse, and Jeremy Davis led the way to back-to-back state titles; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate wish to congratulate these young champions and wish them much success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Orangeburg Preparatory School Indians Boys Track team and their coach, Don Shelley, on winning the 2003 South Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Class AAA Boys Track and Field State Championship and commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication throughout the season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Don Shelley of the Orangeburg Preparatory School Indians Boys Track team.
