A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO OFFER WARMEST AND HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS TO REVEREND AND MRS. CLYDE W. COATES OF CLARKTON, NORTH CAROLINA, ON THE OCCASION OF THE CELEBRATION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXTEND TO THEM AND THEIR FAMILY EVERY GOOD WISH FOR SUCCESS, HEALTH, AND CONTINUED HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, Rev. Clyde W. Coates and Bessie Hyatt, the beloved parents of our dear friend and colleague, Marty Coates, were joined in marriage on Christmas day 1953 in Dillon, South Carolina; and

Whereas, over the course of their marriage Clyde and Bessie Coates have raised a beautiful and loving family of eight children, Phyllis Strickland, Wayne Coates, Candy Mitchell, Ricky Coates, Debbie Scott, Marty Coates, Randy Coates, and Phillip Coates; and

Whereas, as their children grew into adulthood and started families of their own, the Coates' acquired in-laws whom the dearly love and as loving grandparents they have been blessed with fourteen grandchildren; and

Whereas, the date of December 25, 2003, marks the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Reverend Clyde W. and Bessie H. Coates. An important milestone in their lives, it also marks fifty years of love, devotion, and mutual support that has enabled them to be the strong, loving Christian couple they are and the good friends and caring neighbors the have been to so many over the years; and

Whereas, over the course of this union Clyde and Bessie have faithfully served for nearly fifty years in Christian ministry as pastor and shepard to numerous Baptist churches throughout eastern North Carolina; and

Whereas, it is the desire of the members of the General Assembly to join in the spirit of this happy occasion and express both their warmest congratulations and heartfelt admiration to the happy couple on the occasion of the celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, offer warmest and heartfelt congratulations to Reverend and Mrs. Clyde W. Coates of Clarkton, North Carolina, on the occasion of the celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and extend to them and their family every good wish for success, health and continued happiness in the years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Clyde W. and Bessie H. Coates.
