TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-26-110 SO AS TO REQUIRE A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH A TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM TO REQUIRE A COURSE ON THE STUDY OF CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 26, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-26-110. The standards for teacher preparation approved by the State Board of Education shall include a requirement that a college or university with a teacher education program require a course on the study of classroom organization and management techniques that include methods of effective management of disruptive behavior. The successful completion of this course must be a requirement for a teacher preparation program leading to certification."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
