RECOGNIZING THE NAVAL JUNIOR ROTC OF SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL IN AIKEN COUNTY ON ITS OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AT THE STATEWIDE DRILL EVENT JANUARY 17, 2004, EARNING THE OVERALL STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA NJROTC DRILL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Silver Bluff High School Naval Junior ROTC finished at the top among the contenders for the State NJROTC Drill Championship January 17, 2004; and
Whereas, the cadets performed the gamut of drill exercises with aplomb, taking first places in Basic Squad, Armed and Unarmed, and in Platoon Fancy; and
Whereas, second place honors came for their efforts in Basic Platoon Armed, Squad Fancy, Fancy Duo, and Color Guard; and
Whereas, cadet Nicole Harden is Commander of the winning Color Guard, while cadets Michael Chambers and Kevin Todd command the Drill Team; and
Whereas, the outstanding discipline and flair required by the best drill team in the State were encouraged by Coaches Lieutenant Commander Ron Freeman, Chief Personnelman Charles Neighbors, and Victor Maddox; and
Whereas, Principal Warren Whitson and the entire student body and staff applaud the team members: Michael Chambers, Kevin Todd, Nicole Harden, Kara Mize, Shannon Kelly, Jason Cash, Cody Temple, Zach Temple, John Ozan, Robert Nine, Jaccilyn Decker, Rachel Sims, Tyler Patterson, Max Furner, Beau Yancy, Oliver Harris, Charlie Durham, and David Hepner. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize the Naval Junior ROTC of Silver Bluff High School in Aiken County on its outstanding performance at the statewide drill event January 17, 2004, earning the overall State of South Carolina NJROTC Drill Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the cadets and coaches of the Silver Bluff NJROTC.
