A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE PASTORS AND MEMBER CHURCHES OF THE MIDLANDS BAPTIST ASSOCIATION, INC., AND WISHING THEM MUCH SUCCESS AS THEY UNITE TO BUILD GOD'S KINGDOM ON EARTH THROUGH MEETING THE RELIGIOUS NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE.

Whereas, churches and church associations of this State provide encouragement and support to their members and promote the spiritual growth of their congregations through religious training, songs of praise, and other ministerial works; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the efforts of the churches of our State that have formed associations to unite in an effort to reach the needs of the communities beyond the walls of their individual congregations; and

Whereas, to better serve the spiritual needs of South Carolina's Midlands region, the Midlands Baptist Association, Inc., was established on November 20, 2003; and

Whereas, the following church leaders gathered to form the Midlands Baptist Association: Dr. Blakely N. Scott (Moderator and visionary for the Midlands Baptist Association), Reverend Algerron Williams (Clerk), Deacon Richard Goodwin (Vice Clerk), Reverend Tommy Gibson (Vice Moderator), Dr. Secaida D. Howell (Statistician), Reverend Anthony A. Dicks (Treasurer), Reverend Willie Goodwin, Reverend Darrel President, and Dr. Michael Ross; and

Whereas, the following churches have united their efforts to make the work of this association a success: First Nazareth Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church, Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, St. Mark Baptist Church, St. Matthews Baptist Church of Eastover, St. Matthews First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, and Zion Chapel of Reeder Point; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to recognize and commend the church leaders and congregations that have united to form the Midlands Baptist Association, Inc. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the pastors and member churches of the Midlands Baptist Association, Inc., and wish them much success as they unite to build God's kingdom on earth through meeting the religious needs of the communities they serve.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Midlands Baptist Association, Inc.
