A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 47-17-90, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM PROVISIONS REQUIRING MEAT INSPECTION, SO AS TO FURTHER PROVIDE FOR THE EXEMPTION FROM INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS IN REGARD TO THE SLAUGHTER OF LIVESTOCK OF A PRODUCER'S OWN RAISING FOR HIS OWN USE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 47-17-90(1) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(1)    To livestock slaughtered by any producer on the farm for the personal or family use of such owner. To the slaughter on his own premises of livestock of his own raising, and the preparation and transportation in intrastate commerce of the carcasses, parts thereof, meat and meat food products of such livestock exclusively for use by him, members of his immediate household and his nonpaying guests and employees."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
