A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE OF THEIR FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE, REPRESENTATIVE JERRY GOVAN, OF ORANGEBURG, AS CHAIRMAN OF THE LEGISLATIVE BLACK CAUCUS IN THE 115TH SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives understand all too well the demands on the time of a member of the House of Representatives; and

Whereas, a member undertaking to serve as a caucus chairman, particularly a caucus as large, active, and diverse in the views and interests of its members as the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus, has by that service, added greatly to the demands already on that member's time; and

Whereas, our friend and colleague, Representative Jerry Govan of Orangeburg, has rendered outstanding service as South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus Chairman in the 115th South Carolina General Assembly; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations to make known their appreciation for Representative Govan's service in this vital and demanding position. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their appreciation for the distinguished service of their friend and colleague, Representative Jerry Govan, of Orangeburg, as chairman of the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus in the 115th South Carolina General Assembly.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be given to Representative Jerry Govan.
