A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 45-1-110 SO AS TO REQUIRE PREPARERS OF FOOD FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION TO WEAR HAIRNETS AND LATEX GLOVES AND TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL TO PROMULGATE REGULATIONS TO IMPLEMENT THIS SECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 1, Title 45 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 45-1-110.    (A)    Notwithstanding any other provision of law, while preparing food for consumption by the public, a person shall wear a hairnet, or some similar device, and rubber or latex gloves, or as may be provided for in regulation by the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

(B)    The Department of Health and Environmental Control shall promulgate regulations to implement the provisions of this section."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
