The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear words from Genesis 4:36:

"Now therefore let Pharaoh select a man who is discerning and wise and set him over the land of Egypt."
Let us pray

Our Father, we pray especially this morning for our President, George W. Bush...a "discerning and wise man" with a multitude of advisors.

He will say the word as to whether we go to war, delay the war or go on stumbling about in a chaotic world.

YOU alone can give us peace!

St. John tells us about another man, who went about Galilee, the Judean hills, even in Bethlehem and Jerusalem (4:27) and said "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you..." and "Behold, I stand at the door...and knock..." He also spoke something about love!"

With a quivering world we pray, "Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly"!
Amen.

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
