AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 214 OF 2005, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ELECTION DISTRICTS FROM WHICH MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF YORK SCHOOL DISTRICT 1 OF YORK COUNTY ARE ELECTED, SO AS TO CHANGE THE DATES ON WHICH THE ELECTION IS CONDUCTED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Election date changed
SECTION 1. Section 2(B)(3) of Act 214 of 2005, as last amended by Act 163 of 2001, is further amended to read:
"(3) Notwithstanding another provision of law, beginning with elections conducted in 1996, each candidate for election as a trustee to the school boards in York County School Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 shall file his statement of candidacy with the Registration and Elections Commission for York County for the period beginning no earlier than 12:00 noon on August first and ending no later than 12:00 noon on August fifteenth. However, if either of these dates falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the date is extended until 12:00 noon of the next succeeding day which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 31st day of January, 2006.
Approved the 3rd day of February, 2006.
