A SENATE RESOLUTION

HONORING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. CARRIE COLEMAN ROBINSON OF HILTON HEAD, SOUTH CAROLINA ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY, APRIL 21, 2006, AND WISHING HER A WONDERFUL CELEBRATION AND MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Carrie C. Robinson was born April 21, 1906, the fifth of six children to James and Cordelia Coleman in Pocahontas, Mississippi; and

Whereas, she was married to Dr. Thomas L. Robinson of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for fifty-four years, until his death in 1989; and

Whereas, Mrs. Robinson's education is unparalleled. She received an Artium Baccalaureatus degree from Tougaloo College in 1931, a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Hampton Institute in 1932, attended Columbia University from 1940 to 1941, a Master's of Liberal Studies degree from the University of Illinois in 1949, and continued advance studies from 1953-1955; and

Whereas, Mrs. Robinson will be celebrating her centennial birthday with family and friends on Hilton Head Island for a weekend of celebrating, reminiscing, and laughing.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate wish to join her friends and family, many of who are coming from California, Minnesota, Indiana, Alabama, North Carolina, and Illinois, in wishing her much joy on her special day. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, honor and congratulate Mrs. Carrie Robinson on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday, and wish her a wonderful celebration, and much health, happiness, and good fortune in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Carrie Coleman Robinson.
