A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE DUTCH FORK "SILVER FOXES" GOLF TEAM ON ITS OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE TO WIN THE 2006 CLASS AAAA STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACHES, MARK GILES AND PATRICK SMALLWOOD, ON AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.

Whereas, excellence in golf demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coaches Mark Giles and Patrick Smallwood and the members of the Dutch Fork "Silver Foxes" Golf Team capped an impressive season by winning the 2006 Class AAAA State Golf Championship; and

Whereas, defeating tough competitors to take the state title, players stayed calm and focused throughout the tournament, finishing with a score of 906, sixteen strokes better than defending champion Easley High School and twenty-seven strokes better than third place North Augusta High School; and

Whereas, encouraging each other to play his best in benefit of the entire team, the boys worked together to secure their first state golf title since 2002; and

Whereas, team standouts Wesley Bryan and Mark Joye individually earned second and twelfth place finishes, respectively; and

Whereas, the outstanding team included Matt Arndt, Griffen Blackwelder, George Byran, Wesley Bryan, Dylan Ecrement, Mike Hutchison, Carson Joye, Mark Joye, Chase Liebler, Chuck Moore, Ben Starke, and Collin Witiak; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate take great pride in commending the young men of the Dutch Fork "Silver Foxes" Golf Team for their tireless efforts and great determination in an incredible season and recognize them as veritable model student athletes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the players, coaches, and school officials of the Dutch Fork "Silver Foxes" Golf Team.
