A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO INVITE THE NATIONAL COMMANDER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, THE HONORABLE THOMAS P. CADMUS, TO ADDRESS THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN JOINT SESSION AT 12:00 P.M. ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2005.

Whereas, the Honorable Thomas P. Cadmus of Ypsilanti, Michigan was elected National Commander of the 2.7 million member American Legion on September 2, 2004 in Nashville, Tennessee during the 86th National Convention of the nation's largest veterans organization; and

Whereas, the Honorable Thomas P. Cadmus, after serving in the United States Army as an Armored Reconnaissance Specialist from 1965 to 1967, became a member of The American Legion in 1967; and

Whereas, he has dedicated himself to the service of other veterans and their families and has served in key leadership positions at the post, district, department, and national level; and

Whereas, his national level appointments are: Chairman of the National Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission, Vice Chairman of the National Security Council and a member of the Policy Coordination and Action Group, the Veterans Planning and Coordinating Committee, and the Commanders' Advisory Committee; and

Whereas, the Honorable Thomas P. Cadmus spent a 38 year career at Ford Motor Company where he worked on a variety of automotive projects; and

Whereas, he is the parent of two children: Nicole Kimberly and Brian Russell. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the National Commander of the American Legion, the Honorable Thomas P. Cadmus, is invited to address the South Carolina General Assembly in Joint Session in the Chamber of the House of Representatives at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2005.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable Thomas P. Cadmus.
