VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
CONGRATULATING THE SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "GREEN WAVE" MARCHING BAND ON ITS 2004 BIG 16 STATE 5A CHAMPIONSHIP, AND HONORING THE BAND MEMBERS AND DIRECTOR LESLIE GILREATH FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.
Whereas, the Summerville High School "Green Wave" Marching Band capped the 2004 season by capturing a gold medal at the marching band championship for Big 16 State 5A schools in Columbia; and
Whereas, this victory marks the first state championship for the Summerville band since the 1980s when the school captured four state titles; and
Whereas, the win was truly a team effort combining the hard work of the band members and directors with countless hours of support by parents and boosters; and
Whereas, the band performed the "Faces" show package, which plays on the variety of human facial expressions. The ensemble came together brilliantly wowing the judges and thousands of spectators present at the competition; and
Whereas, Band Director Leslie Gilreath, in his fourth year as the band's director, instilled dedication in the band members which was evident from early season practice until the last moments of the competition; and
Whereas, the performance, and example set by the 2004 team, has the Summerville High School Band poised for a return to glory. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved, that the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Summerville High School "Green Wave" Marching Band on its 2004 Big 16 State 5A Championship, and honor the band members and Director Leslie Gilreath for their hard work and dedication.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Director Leslie Gilreath on behalf of the 2004 band members.
