A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO WILLIAM DONALD HYATT, SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES PROCUREMENT MANAGER, FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND EXTENDING VERY BEST WISHES FOR A LONG AND FULFILLING RETIREMENT.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives have learned that William Donald Hyatt is retiring on February 28, 2005, after serving this great state for approximately twenty-one years; and

Whereas, the Department of Social Services has been blessed over the years with a staff composed of very able and talented people, and Don Hyatt is clearly one of the most capable individuals who has served; and

Whereas, Don's career began on April 19, 1984, as a Social Services Generalist at the Marlboro County Department of Social Services. He served in this capacity until June 18, 1984, when he was hired for the position of Contract Specialist III at the Department of Social Services in Columbia; and

Whereas, during restructuring his position was reclassified to Contract Services Supervisor, and Don was responsible for supervising all administrative staff for the Contract Unit; and

Whereas, Don was later promoted to Procurement Manager and was instrumental in setting up the contract unit/tracking system at the Department of Social Services. As a former member of the South Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing Officials, he continually sought knowledge to improve efficiency in the purchasing process; and

Whereas, Don performed all tasks in an outstanding manner, demonstrating a strong sense of duty and hard work in achieving excellence. He initiated many training activities that have strengthened the contractual process and are still in use today; and

Whereas, Don is a loving husband to Gail Hyatt and proud father and grandfather to his daughter, Elizabeth Hyatt Robinson, and his three wonderful grandsons; and

Whereas, William Donald Hyatt has gone above and beyond throughout his time with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and the members of the House of Representatives are proud to honor his service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their gratitude and appreciation to William Donald Hyatt, South Carolina Department of Social Services Procurement Manager, for his exemplary service to the State of South Carolina and extend very best wishes for a long and fulfilling retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to William Donald Hyatt.
