A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THE MEMBERS OF THE RIVERLAND HILLS BAPTIST CHURCH UPON THE OCCASION OF THE COMPLETION OF THEIR NEW WORSHIP, EDUCATIONAL, AND ADMINISTRATIVE FACILITIES INTO WHICH THE CONGREGATION WILL MOVE IN THE FALL OF 2005.

Whereas, Riverland Hills Baptist Church is a vibrant church located in the heart of the St. Andrews and Irmo communities; and

Whereas, the mission of Riverland Hills Baptist Church is ordained by God: "To make disciples of men..."; and the sacred mission of the church has remained unchanged throughout its thirty-seven year history; and

Whereas, the members of Riverland Hills Baptist Church are called to share God's love with the unchurched people of our community and the world in such a way that they have the best opportunity to become fully developing followers of Christ; and

Whereas, the Riverland Hills congregation continues to grow and it has now outgrown its present facilities; and

Whereas, the congregation, led by Pastor Ed Carney, prayerfully considered if God was leading the church to a new facility; and

Whereas, after deciding to construct new facilities, the church congregation launched two major building fund raising efforts: "Through the Open Door" and "For Such a Time as This" that resulted in tens of millions of dollars in pledges for the new facility; and

Whereas, the new twenty million dollar facility boasts one hundred twenty-one thousand square feet, accommodating sanctuary seating for more than fifteen hundred in addition to a gymnasium, fellowship hall, classrooms, kitchen, and office space; and

Whereas, these greatly expanded facilities will assist Riverland Hills as it continues its outreach to the local community and to the world through various programs and missions; and

Whereas, Riverland Hills Baptist Church will officially open its new doors on Lake Murray Boulevard in the fall of 2005; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to honor and recognize this wonderful place of worship for this significant achievement which will enable the faithful members of this great congregation to more easily fulfill their mission of spreading God's word to as many hearts as possible. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate and extend best wishes to the members of the Riverland Hills Baptist Church upon the occasion of the completion of its new worship, educational, and administrative facilities into which the congregation will move in the fall of 2005.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Pastor of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.
