A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-130, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO EXEMPTING CERTAIN BOAT TRAILERS, FARM TRAILERS, AND UTILITY TRAILERS FROM BEING LICENSED OR REGISTERED, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THESE TRAILERS MUST BE LICENSED, REGISTERED, AND MUST HAVE A VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER CONSPICUOUSLY ENGRAVED ON THEM.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 56-3-130 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 56-3-130.    Boat trailers under twenty-five hundred pounds, farm trailers and other utility trailers which are privately owned and not for hire need not must be licensed or and registered. A vehicle identification number must be conspicuously engraved on the trailers."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
