TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND WORKLOADS, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2940, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to Administrative and Professional Personnel Qualifications, Duties and Workloads, designated as Regulation Document Number 2940, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
The State Department of Education recommends that the State Board of Education propose amendments to R 43-205, Administrative and Professional Personnel Qualifications, Duties, and Workloads to add further qualifications for teachers as required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, 20 U.S.C. Section 6301 et seq. (2002) and to align with regulations and guidelines as well as to reflect current terminology.
