A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SOUTH CAROLINA FARM BUREAU MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY UPON REACHING ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF SERVICE TO ITS MEMBER-POLICYHOLDERS AND TO THE INSURANCE MARKET OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, opening its doors to the public on December 19, 1955, South Carolina Farm Bureau sought to provide farm fire insurance protection and safety and risk management services to its members who were struggling to find available and affordable insurance services; and

Whereas, within its first year of business, South Carolina Farm Bureau sold one thousand three hundred fifty policies and collected thirty-five thousand eight hundred dollars in insurance premiums; and

Whereas, since its inception, Farm Bureau has grown in size and service, becoming the largest domestic property and casualty insurer in this State and providing a full line of nearly three hundred fifty thousand insurance policies, including automobile and homeowners' insurance, to over one hundred thirty thousand families across South Carolina; and

Whereas, remaining steadfastly committed to the development of the state's insurance industry and servicing its insurance consumers living in rural, suburban, and urban communities, Farm Bureau has continuously transacted business only within the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Farm Bureau has routinely evidenced a deep sense of community responsibility and involvement in providing relevant and timely technical information to regulators and legislators who develop and implement insurance law, and truly has embodied the spirit and intent of its corporate slogan, "Helping you is what we do best". Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend South Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company upon reaching its fiftieth anniversary of service to its member-policyholders and to the insurance market of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to South Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Company.
