A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MARGARET MITCHELL OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY FOR DEDICATION AND TIRELESS EFFORTS IN FURTHERANCE OF THE CHESTERFIELD COUNTY COORDINATING COUNCIL.

Whereas, is with great pride that the members of the House of Representatives commend those who give of themselves so freely in promotion of the greater good as public servants in South Carolina; and

Whereas, Margaret Mitchell has been instrumental to the success of the Chesterfield County Coordinating Council, a nonprofit organization composed of representatives from more than sixty groups and agencies, that provides social services to county residents; and

Whereas, the Council began in early 1993, when former legislator Jean Harris convened a meeting of county government officials and local state agency representatives to discuss juvenile crime and other issues; and

Whereas, tackling a wide variety of social ills, the Council has recently addressed substance abuse prevention, youth development, and pregnancy prevention; and

Whereas, eighteen months after the Council's inception, Margaret Mitchell came to work as the part-time coordinator and has worked as the full-time coordinator since 1996; and

Whereas, possessing a true heart for the work undertaken by the Council, Margaret has played a key role in helping county and state agencies work together to provide quality services and achieve common goals for the residents of Chesterfield County; and

Whereas, much of the success of the Council can be attributed directly to her great leadership, hard work, and sheer determination; and

Whereas, Margaret continues to inspire all those with whom she comes into contact with her passion, energy, and enthusiasm for addressing social problems in her own community, and she is greatly appreciated for her extraordinary efforts. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Margaret Mitchell of Chesterfield County for her dedication and tireless efforts in furtherance of the Chesterfield County Coordinating Council.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Margaret Mitchell.
