TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE MR. BILLY THREADGILL OF FLORENCE FOR HIS SERVICE AS PRESIDENT OF THE CAROLINAS INDEPENDENT AUTOMOBILE DEALERS ASSOCIATION DURING THE ASSOCIATION'S FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY YEAR.
Whereas, coming from a family that has an outstanding reputation for selling and servicing cars in Florence, Billy Threadgill has been in the automotive business since the age of fourteen when he began working in the service department of Van's Auto Sales in Florence; and
Whereas, the Threadgill family has been in the business of selling cars to Florence residents for well over thirty years, and it is estimated that more than seven thousand five hundred motor vehicles have been sold during this period; and
Whereas, Mr. Threadgill has been quite active in his trade association, the Carolina Independent Automobile Dealers Association (CIADA) for many years, and follows his father Van as a second generation president of the association and is its president during the CIADA's fiftieth anniversary year; and
Whereas, he has served this trade association in nearly every capacity and during his tenure as an officer, he has seen it grow from a modest eight hundred members to nearly two thousand five hundred members, making it the largest of its kind in the country; and
Whereas, he has received numerous awards from the CIADA, most recently the Eagle award, the association's highest honor for membership recruitment; and
Whereas, Billy Threadgill is one of only seventy-three dealers nationwide to hold the Certified Master Dealer (CMD) professional designation. This prestigious designation results from high-level business requirements and completion of an intensive week long academic endeavor conducted by the faculty of Northwood University; and
Whereas, he is recognized and respected by his peers as a very knowledgeable and accomplished businessman whose honesty and ethics are beyond reproach; and
Whereas, Mr. Threadgill is active in his community, church, and local civic organizations. He is the proud father of two sons who are following him into the family business; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize and commend this truly outstanding South Carolinian for his accomplishments as one of our state's most successful business leaders and for his service as President of the CIADA. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and recognize Mr. Billy Threadgill of Florence for his service as president of the Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association during the association's fiftieth anniversary year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Threadgill.
