A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

APPLAUDING THE WEST ASHLEY HIGH SCHOOL LADY WILDCATS ON THEIR 4-3 SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME VICTORY OVER FORT MILL FOR THEIR THIRD SOUTH CAROLINA AAAA STATE SOCCER TITLE IN FOUR YEARS, AND HONORING COACH DREW MCNEELY AND THE TEAM ON THEIR CONSISTENCY IN AND DEDICATION TO PLAYING SOCCER OF THE HIGHEST CALIBER.

Whereas, the 2005 edition of the West Ashley High School Lady Wildcats Soccer team parlayed emotion, dedication, mental toughness, and experience to take their third AAAA State title in four years, this time with a 4-3 sudden death overtime win over Fort Mill; and

Whereas, the Lady Wildcats had to fight for the championship opportunity after finishing in a three-way tie and as the third seed from Region 7; and

Whereas, dubbing their championship trek the "Doin' it the Hard Way Tour", the Wildcats knocked off Richland Northeast, Summerville, and Wando before taking the Lower State Championship with their third win of the season over James Island; and

Whereas, Head Coach Drew McNeely is credited by his players for having "contagious" optimism about their chances and instilling them with the passion and determination to achieve their goals; and

Whereas, the three-time championship team members include: Denise Abbate, Stacy Austin, Julie Bolt, Alechia Brothers, Alexis Brothers, Audrey Butz, Anna Gillespie, Jenny Ann Jackson, Meredith Jones, Candace Jordan, Danielle Jordan, Shayna Lee, Porsha Malin, Heather Ostrander, Callie Purvis, Carrie Robinson, Eliza Rodrigue, Danielle Schimpf, Kayce Seifert, Brooke Spivey, Kala Stockman, Rebecca Thomas, Megan Whetsell, Elizabeth Whiteman; and the coaching staff includes: Head Coach Drew McNeely, Assistants Melissa Fraiser, Patrick Olalere, Jenna Waite, and Erin Donovan; Statistician Michael Jackson, Athletic Trainer Kevin Seyle, Videographer Parry Cook, Photographer Billy Schimpf, and Student Manager Kevin Duck . Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, applaud the West Ashley High School Lady Wildcats on their 4-3 sudden death overtime victory over Fort Mill for their third South Carolina AAAA State Soccer title in four years, and honor Coach Drew McNeely and the team on their consistency in and dedication to playing soccer of the highest caliber.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Drew McNeely.
